twenty-three

IMG_2609
Dress: Marshall's, birthday gift to myself (because everyone gives themselves gifts, right?)
All my life I've always been excited to turn another year older. But this year? No way. Something about the age 23 just sounds old! I don't want to be 23! I think I'm going to start lying about my age now. Just kidding. But no, really. #forever22 Has anyone else experienced this?
birthday 23

One my birthday, Friday, I did indeed go to work. All of my co-workers kept telling me I should have taken the day off, but I'd rather not use my vacation time for sitting on the couch haha. I did get off 2 hours early though and went get a pedicure. For dinner, Larry, my mom, and my sister went to eat at Coyote Blues. Of course I had to my margaritas on my birthday :)

dressing room diaries: sista sista edition

My mom and my sister come to visit me almost once a month, and everytime they come, we can't help but to do some thrifting. They were here this weekend, and we took a trip to the good ole' Goodwill!

First off, since I didn't get an actual picture of what I was wearing Saturday, here is my selfie at the Goodwill.

IMG_2643
LC Lauren Conrad Blouse: Kohl's, gift carded
Shorts: TJ Maxx $16
Necklace: Forever 21 $4
Sandals:  birthday gift from a co-worker
Total Outfit Cost: $20

And here are our findings of the day...

IMG_2634
H&M LBD: I LOVED the way this looked with my hair and necklace, but the dress was super short in the middle front. I thought it would probably look great over some white skinny jeans and some wedges, but I didn't have any plans to wear an outfit like that any time soon, so I resisted and at the GW it stayed.

IMG_2635
Gap dress: I have to give props to my sister for this find! You can't really see it in the picture, but the stripes are actually navy blue with tiny white polka dots. My GW is so weird and they up the price to certain items, and I guess the person pricing that day thought that Gap things should be more expensive? Who knows. All dress are $6, but this one was marked to $8. I still got it because I see myself wearing it a ton. :)

IMG_2640
Old Navy floral dress: I actually saw someone selling this dress and it caught my eye, but it is way prettier in person! Sadly I don't get to wear summery clothes too often (well only on the weekends) so I'm trying to cut back and I didn't get this dress.

IMG_2641
Vintage dress:  I grabbed this as a wild card, and yeah it just didn't work.

IMG_2642
J.Crew chino shorts: These were the perfect fit and such a fun color! They definitely came home with me.

IMG_2587
Army green vest: So sista doesn't normally enjoy thrifting with us, but she was definitely enjoying herself Saturday! How cute is this vest on her? She took it home with her fo sho.

IMG_2588
Blue blouse: She eyed this shirt the second we walked in the door. It was cuter on the hanger though. See that redish orange dress in the background? She forgot to get a picture in it, but she took that pretty home with her.

Target Dress: LOVED this on her! It was a keeper!

I'm so fancy

Cynthia Rowley Blouse: Goodwill $4
Pants: Old Navy $26
Heels: Payless (clearance) $10
Necklace: Ebay $4
Total Outfit Cost: $44

...you already know. Something about a pair of fabulous heels, a cute outfit, and sunglasses can make a girl feel fancy, right? Actually I didn't feel all that fancy in this outfit. I just started singing that song while taking these pictures, so I decided then that it should be the title of this blog post.

By the way, my 23rd birthday is in just a few hours! Presents are always welcome... I wear a shoe size 8 ;)

Could this shirt be any more bright and colorful? I think not. This outfit is so loud it's almost obnoxious. I have no regrets. For me, it brings the summer to the office, even when the office is an iceberg.

So after telling y'all yesterday that it's been in a year since my wedding day I realized that I kinda sorta never finished posting my wedding pictures on the blog! I'm an awful blogger, I know! So, my question is.. do y'all still want me to post the rest?

Yesterday was Larry and I's 1 year wedding anniversary! I can't believe just how fast the past year has flown by.  I can still remember every detail of our wedding day and I hope I can keep that memory forever because it's favorite so far.

We didn't want to do anything too extravagant for our anniversary because we're going to Disney World in September and that's kinda serving as our anniversary gift/trip. We started off the day at church Sunday morning. Then, like usual, we went have lunch with family. After lunch we went to the movies just Larry and I. We went see that movie with Cameron Diaz and Jason Segal (I'm not going to put the title of the movie because I don't want the wrong kind of traffic coming to my blog lol). But btw, it was hilarious. Larry was trying to get me to go see Planet of the Apes, but I was in the mood for something funny! Then we went eat dinner at the L'auberge Casino buffet where we stuffed our faces with snow crabs. Yummm. We ended the day with some wine and cake!

I can't wait for many many many more years with my husband, and I can't wait to see what God has in store for us!

Dress: Walmart $12 [almost exact]
Shirt: Forever 21 $20
Sandals: Ross $17
Necklace: Groopdealz $4.50
Total Outfit Cost: $53.50

I've been on a dress kick lately, and this maxi may be my favorite. I have to stop myself from wearing it all the time. Ya know, that seems to be a trend in my favorite pieces, I love them so much that I wear them every week. This time I didn't even realize it. I wore it with the chambray tied over last week and then yesterday I got dressed and put it on again without even realizing that I just wore it recently. I have to give my sister props for finding it. She bought it first and not a month later I had to have it too!

Ok, enough about the dress. I figured out something great this week. It's amazing if your skin gets oily during the day like mine. Translucent powder! When I add my normal colored powder in the middle or end of the day to my already face full of makeup, it makes my makeup look gross and cakey. I don't know about you but I definitely don't want to look like I have layers and layers of makeup on. Translucent powder masks the oily-ness and doesn't make it look like you added any makeup. It's genius. You should try it. :)  And for the record, I have the NYC powder from Walmart for like 99 cents and it works great!

Sam & Libby Sandals: Target, gift carded
Headband: old
Total Outfit Cost: $9.50

I'm sure many of you are all red, white, and blued out with all of the 4th of July outfit posts here in blogland, but I couldn't go without posting mine! (is it weird that I suddenly couldn't find the exclamation point on the keyboard? that was strange...) Friday we had family over for a fish fry and just hung out and relaxed. Funny enough Larry's cousin and I were the only one's sporting the flag colors. Well, Larry wore a Navy shirt with a red logo... I guess that counts too. I dressed him of course. I'd say that I usually like to dress holiday spirited, but now that I'm thinking about it, I totally forgot about St. Patty's day and didn't wear any green that day. I do always wear red or pink on Valentine's day and red and/or green for Christmas. Oh and pretty pastels for Easter! I think it's fun to have a theme or color scheme to get dressed by. Do you like to dress for the holiday's?

red, white + blue a little early

Gap tank: Goodwill $4
Cardigan: Target (clearance) $9
Pants: Old Navy $26
Sandals: Target, gift carded
Necklace: Ebay $4
Total Outfit Cost: $43

I got dressed this morning and realized that I was little early on dressing for the 4th of July! Though I am sporting red, white, and blue, I think that this different shade of blue helps with not screaming patriotic or looking like the American flag. I love this Gap tank I picked up at the Goodwill last week, and I'll probably wear it again on the 4th. Speaking of the 4th, my sister is coming see us, and we plan on swimming, fishing, and frying fish... yummmm! I'm so excited for a long weekend. Hopefully my body will actually allow me to sleep in on Friday! I'd love to sleep in on Saturdays, but my body just naturally wakes me up ready for garage sale-ing at 7:30 every Saturday! I'm not complaining though because it's true what they say, the early bird gets the worm!
