4. wedges: Walmart (clearance) $5

7. LC ombre' dress: Goodwill $6

8. LC polka dot blouse: Kohl's (clearance + extra 15% off coupon) $8

9. Tommy Girl red gingham print top: Instagram Shop $15

Total Spent: $72 - $28 sold on shop my closet = $44

I gotta say, keeping track of exactly how much I spend on clothes each month is really helping me to hold myself accountable for what I spend. This month I held back on a lot of other things I wanted to buy, and I really only bought things things on my list of "needs." Note: this so called list is only in my head.

The white crepe blouse I have been watching at Kohl's for a year now. I have been needing the perfect white blouse, and girls, this is definitely it. I'm so glad I finally was able to get it for under $15. A jean vest was also on my list (check). I've been needing a new black blazer because I just don't love the one I have. I bought this one from an Instagram shop, but it's a little big. I'm thinking for only $12, I may get it tailored. Other things on my list were fun flats (check!), the perfect LBD (check.. ok turns out it's not so perfect, it's a little long and needs to be hemmed), a pretty blouse for work (check!), a plaid or gingham button up (check!). The wedges and ombre dress weren't aren't that list, but they were too great to pass up.

Oh and let's talk about this whole Instagram shopping thing. Ever since I went and switched my shop my closet page to Instagram, I have become addicted to shopping others' closets! What a lot of IG shops do ispost a picture saying that they're posting at a certain time, and then they spam the crap outta your feed, and they're stuff sells what seems like instantly. Unfortunately, I haven't had such luck with too many sales. I have had luck with buying though! Haha. I actually bought 2 other things, but they haven't come in the mail yet, so I'll wait and just add them to my March budget.

dressing room diaries: goodwill

I went to the Goodwill twice this month and here are some of the goodies that I found:

IMG_0761, lbd, ganni black dress, thrifted
Is this not the most perfect and adorable LBD you have ever seen? This may be one of my favorite thrifting finds ever. The brand is Ganni, and I looked it up and this dress would sell for $100 or more! What a score for only $6. (a huge thanks to my Goodwill for not knowing this name brand because if they did, they'd probably stick a $20 tag on it)

IMG_0763
It was a day for pretty dresses, because this ombre Lauren Conrad dress also came home with me. I can't wait to wear this in the spring! ($6)

IMG_0952
I tried this skirt on because I thought it would look like those pretty tulle skirts that lots of bloggers have been wearing (btw WHERE would you actually wear one of those skirts anyways?!). It just wan't working for me. Not that I could justify wearing this anywhere.

IMG_0953
This dress I thought would be cute for work, it was too thin and short though, so I passed.
IMG_0954
I am SO mad at myself for not getting this target dress! If this was at my local Goodwill I would have gone back to get it, unfortunately this was at the one 20 minutes from my house, and this girl just don't go that far on a daily basis. #aintnobodygottimeforallthat

IMG_0955
This dress was so pretty on the hanger, but not too pretty on me.

IMG_0956
I did get this denim vest, but I am now noticing that it's too big near my arm pits. I think I'll keep it for now. ($3)

Have you been thrifting lately? Find any goodies? I'd love to hear about them if so!

my new favorite outfit

Jacket: Target, gift carded
Shirt: Old Navy (clearance + partially gift carded) $3
Jeans: so old
LC Booties: gifted
Scarf: ebay $15
Total Outfit Cost: $18

So I have 2 meanings to the post title today. First, this is definitely my new favorite outfit! This is the first time I wore this jacket outside of work, and I fell in love with it even more.  I actually wore this outfit for the first time three weeks ago, and then this picture is from when I re-wore it last Friday. Yepp that's how much I love this outfit. I wore it twice! Something I never do! Anyways, that brings me to my second meaning behind the post title. Ginny over at My New Favorite Outfit wore an almost identical outfit to this recently. I guess great minds think dress alike!

ps. yes, yes I did wear this top 3 times within one week...

I hope y'all aren't tired of these shoes yet, cause I sure ain't. These babies went neglected in my closet for a year, and finally I guess I figured out how to style them. Also, the weather here is just ridic. I actually wore this dress last week when it was in the 70's. Yes, the 70's ughhh. Umm Louisiana weather, I am not done with my winter clothes yet! I miss wearing my fur vest already! Dang winter only last 3 whole weeks here. -__-

maroon + teal

Shirt: Old Navy (clearance + partially gift carded) $3
Jeggings: Walmart $12
Heels: TJ Maxx (clearance) $10
Necklace: JCP (clearance) $2
Total Outfit Cost: $27

When I find a color combination that I like, I tend to start repeating it. It's like a whole new light to my closet. I paired deep red and teal together here, and honestly I only put those colors together because 1. I really wanted to wear those heels and 2. because I wanted to tie my scarf like that. I put both the scarf and heels on together that morning to see which one won my heart, but I ended up not minding them together! At first I was a little skeptical and thought to myself, "does this match??" Then as the day went by I realized I really liked the colors together, hence why I paired them together again here.

Scarf: ebay $4
Jeans: Old Navy (sale + super cash) $11.25

Total Outfit Cost: $58.25

Today I am short on words for y'all. Mainly because I am actually writing this last night and I am too captivated by the Olympic figured skaters on my TV right now. I will tell you that I give myself zero credit for this outfit. This is an exact replica of this pin (minus the gorgeous mane of hair) I found on Pinterest after finally getting my mustard scarf in the mail. I bought it on eBay, and of course since it's from China it took almost a month to come in (ugh).  I'm actually still waiting on two other scarves that I ordered at the same time as this one (double ugh). Oh and I would have loved to link back to girl in the pin, but unfortunately someone initially just pinned an image so we have no idea who she is. Whomp whomp whomp. This unknown girl is my style swap partner this week.

a valentine's treat

Tights: Old, don't remember
Heels: Target (bogo) $22

Larry and I did Valentine's Day smart this year! We decided to go eat out for our Valentine's date on Valentine's eve to beat the crowd. We went to eat at this seafood and steak house, and oh man was it delish.  We thoroughly enjoyed spoiling ourselves to an extra nice meal. The next morning we did our Valentine's gifts to each other. I know every couple is different as far as what kinds of gifts they do. Some give actual gifts like fancy jewelry and what not and some, like us, keep it simple. We both happened to give each other bouquets this year! I gave him a bouquet of his favorite candies and he gave me a bouquet of purple roses (I requested something other than red ;).

valentinesbouquet

We also gave each other cards too of course. Instead of going to Walmart, CVS, or Walgreens and staring at millions of cards trying to find the one that says just the right words inside, and coming to find out it's the tackiest one on the shelf, I ordered my card for him from Treat  ALL of the cards were super cute, and I was able to personalize it with some of our wedding pictures! Not to mention the messages inside the cards weren't awfully mushy gushy like most you find in stores. I like to keep it short and simple! Oh and I'm pretty sure all the cards are only $3.49, what a score!

I was so pleased with Larry's treat card! I know from now on I'll be saving time at the store, and spending more time personalizing cards that are actually cute! :)

smitten

Lauren Conrad Blouse: Kohl's (clearance) $8
Pants: Old Navy $26
Heels: TJ Maxx (clearance) $10
Scarf: Gift
Total Outfit Cost: $44

I scored this blouse on the clearance rack at Kohl's last week, and y'all I am smitten. It is seriously perfect. I already know it'll be one of those items I'll want to wear once a week, you know like my coral blazer, fur vest, and aztec sweater. I guess that's part of building a closet of things that I love. Good thing this blouse has so much remixing potential. I may have to use it one month for the "many days many ways" link up. Oh and speaking of being smitten, Valentine's Day is in TWO days. What the heck. I didn't even realize that it was this week until Monday!
Ps. I now have my "shop my closet" page on instagram, check it out @goodwillistascloset

warm & fuzzy inside

Necklace: Vintage, given to me
Total Outfit Cost: $40

Ever since I saw Nicole (writeslikeagirl) wearing a fur vest, I knew I had to have one. Living in south Louisiana, I thought that I would look totally ridiculous in a fur vest. I mean it just doesn't get cold enough to justify wearing fur.... Oh boy was I wrong. This fur vest has been perfect for the weather lately. Well, more like for the weather going on in my office at work. It's freezing in our office, but it's way too uncomfortable to sit at my desk with a coat on and wearing my fleece Magic Kingdom blanket just makes me want to fall asleep. So this vest is perfect, because it keeps me warm and allows my arms to be free. I've pretty much worn it once a week since it came in the mail. 20 bucks definitely justified. Oh and speaking of this vest and my office, the first time I wore to work one of my co-workers asked if she could pet me. Lol.

Remember when I told y'all about the awesome link up idea I had a couple weeks ago? Well, it's happening! Get your creative juices flowing because the "many days many ways" linkup party (name compliments of Nicole)  will be next Wednesday, February 19th

Here are the deets: Choose one item in your closet and remix the heck out of it. Show all the ways that you can style that one piece. I'll give y'all a hint to mine- my trusty lace dress. The button is on my side bar if you'd like to use it to link back to the link up so more bloggy friends will know about it.  What do you plan on remixing? I can't wait to see!

one outfit styled three ways

one outfit three ways, maroon pants, black booties, aztec sweater, fur vest

I bought this top and the bottoms at Walmart during the same grocery trip, but never did I think I would keep these two together this much! This has got to be the most comfortable put together outfit there is. These legging pants things (I honestly don't have a clue what to call them- they're too stretchy to be called pants, but too think to be called leggings) don't have front pockets or a button and zipper, so I think they look weird with anything but a longer top. This top is one of the two I have that's long and loose, so I just keep wearing them together. And I have to say, together they seem to make a perfect canvas for lots of styling options and outfits!
IMG_8955, maroon pants, lauren conrad booties

The first way I styled this outfit was simple. All I did was add this pretty necklace, and I think it's my favorite.

| Shirt: Walmart $12 | Pants: Walmart $12 | LC Booties: Kohl's Gifted | Fur Vest: SheInside.com $20 | Necklace: Hodge Podge thrift store $3 |
The next time I wore it, I added my faux fur vest and a long necklace.
IMG_9130, aztec sweater, maroon pants, lauren conrad booties

Lastly, I went for comfort, and added my awesomely cozy aztec sweater. I swear this sweater is like wearing a blanket everywhere I go.
Which outfit is your favorite? Do you have an outfit that works as a canvas for many ways to remix.

Danielle (blogs at A Little Bit of WoWe) and I were chatting last week, and we came up with great idea. We realized that as bloggers who post outfit pictures, we pretty much know what each other (and other bloggers) has in our closets. So, we decided to come up with an outfit for each other! I love this outfit that she picked out for me. Something about it is just so simple and chic. Plus, I'm getting to wear this blazer (that I never wear) again. You can see the outfit I picked out for Danielle here. Doesn't she look like teacher Barbie? I definitely need to find me a nice pair of wide leg jeans too.
Also, I got my hairs did this past weekend. I was tired of the white blonde, and I wanted it to be more of a sandy blonde. I don't know what color this is. I'm still unsure about it and already missing my light blonde! I think I may get my stylist to put some more light blonde in it.

mirror mirror on the wall...

IMG_0212, thrifted sweater, garage sale sweater, thrifted
Sweater: Garage Sale FIFTY FRIGGIN' CENTS, Y'ALL
Shirt: Old Navy (clearance) $8
Jeans: Old Navy (sale + super cash) $11.25
Belt: Goodwill $1
Boots: $40
Total Outfit Cost: $60.75

Who's the thriftiest of them all? ...YOU AREEE.
This sweater is definitely one of my most favorite garage sale finds ever. I remember seeing it, there it was, lying on a blanket on the ground in a small pile of clothes. It's coziness intrigued me, so I picked up. No price tag (which drives me nuts by the way- no one wants to go to your garage sale and keep asking you how much evertyhing is!). I looked at it and was excited to see that it was the slouchy style cardigan that I had been searching for, but I wasn't so sure about the color/pattern at first. (Why? I have no clue, because now I'm in love with it!) I asked the lady how much. She said 50 cents. I accepted. And that is the story of how this beauty came home with me.

If you're wondering why I am posting a craptastic mirror picture it's because somehow this outfit has been worn THREE times, and I haven't gotten a picture of it. This mirror picture was actually the second time I wore the outfit. How is it that some of my favorite closet items and outfits take the longest to make it to the blog? No idea.
