I fell like I am finally back on a roll with blogging! I got tired of blogging back in May, and up until the past week or so I just didn't enjoy sitting down and writing a post that much. But it's back, my blogging mojo is back. I've got some fun posts I'm working on that I can't wait to share- garage sale-ing tips, everyday tips to live a cheaper life, a themed week with Andi, and Priya and I's fall edition of  4 seasons, 1 dress! If anyone wants to collaborate on something else, let me know!

high school colors

Scarf: Ebay $4
LC Jeans: Kohls gift carded
Booties: Plato's Closet $12
Total Outfit Cost: $16

My high school colors were black and gold.. but the gold was always more like a mustard yellow or bumble bee yellow. So as soon as I put on this outfit I felt like I was sporting my school colors! Our high school rival's colors were royal blue and gold (the same gold as us lol), and I still can't seem to wear those colors together! My little brother is now going to said rival school, and if he makes the baseball team, it's going to be hard enough to sit on their side of the stands much less wear their colors! How will I ever!

I am writing this on Sunday night, and man oh man I am not ready to go to work tomorrow morning! I had a nice little 5 day weekend due to Larry's surgery (you can read about it here) on Wednesday. I've been taking care of him (aka getting him anything he wants/needs lol... I don't mind ;), being extra lazy, and I cleaned house a little. Though I gotta say, I probably couldn't go too many more days like that.  I like being lazy for a few days just as much as the next girl, but I am def a busy body. I like to be busy and not bored. And I'm sure once I ran out of stuff to watch on TV (but let's be honest, with Netflix will that ever happen? probably not) I'd be stir crazy. It was nice while it lasted! Time to get back to work though! Booooo.

black + brown

Please Excuse the random pot here. My mom brought it to my house and put it there, and while I don't think it's a bad spot for the pot, it just looks super awkward in these pictures since it's empty.

I've never owned a pair of combat boots and never really have I wanted a pair, but I stopped in Target the other day, and something about these intrigued me to try them on. When I went to grab them, I noticed they were on sale for $25, which made me like them even more! I tried them on and knew that I had to have them. These pictures of them don't do them justice, and neither do the pictures on the Target site. They're actually lighter than they appear and they have a cool texture in the brown.

I've always been that person that wouldn't wear black and brown together, and I taught my husband not too either (not that he always listens). Lately though, I think you can make black and brown work! I think that my brown boots work with my black pants since my top is a shade of brown. What do you think about wearing black and brown together?

I was looking through my pictures to see if I had any outfits to post to the blog, and I came across this outfit from a couple months ago that never got posted. When I saw it I immediately thought about a way to wear this same outfit for fall... and the fact that I need to get this outfit it's own post stat! I think I never posted this outfit because the lighting in these pictures were wonky and I didn't like the way I looked. I guess right after you take pictures you can see all the flaws in it, but then when you come back to it months later, the pictures seem just fine? Anyone else ever had that happen? Also, come back next week to see how I fallified (yes, I just made that word up) this outfit!

This is what I wore to the Katy Perry Concert in New Orleans a couple weeks ago! I originally wanted to wear something Katy Perry inspired.. like put together an outfit based off something she's worn before... but I came across this romper and just couldn't pass it up for the price. Then I found a picture of KP in this outfit so my outfit is kinda Katy inspired, right?

I had a blast with a few of my friends at the concert. We started the night off eating at a small seafood restaurant downtown. Then we walked down to Bourbon Street for some drinks and site seeing (if you've ever been there you know what I mean by site seeing.. the people). We stopped in Channing Tatum's bar, Saints & Sinners, for some drinks. Too bad his gorgeous self wasn't in town :(. After that we headed to the concert just in time for Katy to be getting on stage! It was my second KP concert, and I still can not get over how just plain phenomenal she is. I am already ready for her next tour!

Usually when Bree (Work Clothes I Suppose) posts her Third Thursday Threads theme, I always forget about linking up, but this week was one I couldn't forget. This weeks theme was pink for breast cancer awareness month.

3 1/2 years ago my mom found a lump in her breast. She got it checked out immediately and it was stage 1 breast cancer. She had a lumpectomy and then radiation. Since then, she is 3 1/2 years CANCER FREE! We are so blessed to say that my mom is a survivor! So ladies (men too!)... make sure you are doing SELF CHECKS and getting mammograms! It's SO important.

i thrifted hunter rain boots

Hunter Wellies: Goodwill $9 [here]
Tank: Old Navy (clearance + super cash) $5
Shorts: TJ Maxx $16
Old Navy: Goodwill $3.50
Total Outfit Cost: $33.50

The other day I stopped in the Goodwill for just a quick run through. When I do my quickie trips I typically look through the houseware/junk, shoes, and dresses. After my pass through the houseware, I noticed one of the workers with a huge buggy of shoes waiting to be put out. And on the top of the buggy? These Hunter rain boots. In. My. Size! AND my favorite color! You better believe I snatched them up real quick and didn't put them down till they were safe in my car. When I was waiting in line to check out these two young (college-age looking) girls saw the boots and said "oh my God, did you find those HERE?" And I was all like "yeahhhh omg, I'm like the thrifting queeen." Ok just kidding. But no really. These boots are something I would absolutely never own if it wasn't for me thrifting them. To be honest, if it wasn't for blogging, I'd have no clue what the heck Hunter Wellies were! I still don't understand why anyone would pay $150 for rainboots, but that's just me! If I didn't know better, I'd think the Goodwill was crazy for up pricing them to $9. ;)

Happy Monday! Hope you all had a lovely weekend. I sure did! Saturday I planned on going to a few garage sales, but I work up and just wasn't feeling it. Instead I cleaned the house from top to bottom! Call me crazy but I seriously love spending Saturdays cleaning my house. It just makes the rest of the week so much more relaxing, and not to mention a clean house = a happy home. Sunday Larry and I had brunch with his parents and then we went to church. After that it was a just plain lazy Sunday, just the way I like it.

I wore this outfit a couple weeks ago, and it's another one of my faking fall outfits. It may look like I'm layered up in this vest, but really the button up I have on underneath it is super thin. Every time I wear this vest I unintentionally style it with more girly pieces- today polka dots & a statement necklace. This vest isn't necessarily what I'd consider masculine, but I do think adding the feminine pieces make it more "me." I always love how Ginny styles hers. I swear she's the vest styling queen! We're supposed to have a cold front come through tonight yay! Hopefully tomorrow I won't have to fake fall :)

This past Friday I attended a friends wedding. I'm a girl, so of course I've been thinking about what I could wear to the wedding for months. A chance to dress up a little fancier than normal is too exciting, right?! I think so at least. Anyways, with the wedding being in October, I knew I wanted to wear a longsleeve dress (even though it was fairly warm so I didn't need sleeves at all). Specifically one with a floral print. I searched the internez up and down, and for probably 2 months I kept coming back to this dress. The style was perfect and the floral was perfect. But if you know me or have followed this blog for any length of time (or even just have read my blog title ;) you know that I'm not one to just order a dress for 40 bucks! Finally a couple weeks ago I decided to take the plunge. I allowed myself to splurge for this beat. I even paid extra for shipping to make sure it was here in a decent time. I'm so happy I did, because I'm seriously IN LOVE with this dress! It's soooo me. I can't wait for something else to come up so I can wear it again. I may even try to dress it down with my cognac boots... how do you think I should style it next?
