Tights: Target Old
Booties: JustFab.com $20.00
Necklace: Thrift Store $0.49
Belt: Goodwill $0.99

After fighting with my closet, aka trying everything on and throwing it on the bed and/or floor because nothing looked good, I somehow came up with this outfit and I was finally pleased.  My sister came to stay with me at my apartment for a couple nights this week, so we decided to go take some outfit pictures... on side the road... where we got honked at. haha. It was a lot of fun having her with me for a few days. We did some sisterly bonding while shopping with our Christmas money, and she even got to come to work with me. I hope we get to go take outfit pictures again together soon because these look so much better than me standing in front of my white closet doors...

I will be in Disney World with my fiance for the next couple of days so I will be back next year!

Isn't my sister just adorable in this blue dress? Believe it or not, she used to not like to dress up at all or ever.  Now, she's buying dresses and heels, and I have to say that I am one proud sister! I love that she's becoming more girly like me! Two years ago, I would have never thought I'd ever see her in a dress, wedges, and a bun on top her head! I love it. What do yall think of her outfit?

Purple People Eater...?

Old Navy Jean Jacket: Gifted
Dress: Goodwill $4.99
Target Tights: Old
Rack Room Booties: $35.00 (BOGO)
Necklace: Charming Charlie (Clearance) $5.99
Total Outfit Cost: $45.98

My mom and I go to leave the other day to go see some wedding reception venues, and she says "Hehe! You look like a purple people eater!" ...Thanks mom. Thanks. I guess if I was wearing blue tights I'd look like an avatar? She told me later on in the day that I really did look cute. Coming from her, that means a lot, because sometimes her and Alyssa (my sister) think my outfits are ridiculous and they hate when I don't match perfectly. Not that I really care. I wear what I think looks good, and I dress up for myself, not to impress anyone else. :)
Who do you dress to impress for? Yourself?

The $20 Rule

So let me tell you about the $20 rule.  It all started back in high school when my friends and I would go shopping at the mall.  If something was $20.00 or more, we had to think about it reallllly hard to make sure that we really needed it.  Like you have to have a few outfits together in your head before you can buy this article of clothing.  You had to ask yourself multiple times, "is it really worth a whole $20 bill?"  I still do this. $20.00 is a LOT of money to me!  Especially now that I've caught the thrift bug and can't see paying more than $4.99 for something!  I've actually kind of turned my $20 rule into a $10 rule... anything over ten and I'm doing some serious thinking about it!
Chambray Shirt: Forever 21 $20.00
Black T: Old
White Jeans: Goodwill $4.99
Charlotte Russe Flats: Goodwill $2.99
Hat: Maurice's $12.00
Total Outfit Cost: $39.98

So, this chambray shirt applied to my $20 rule, and this is how I justified it to myself... I have two chambray shirts that I've gotten at the Goodwill, and neither of them are exactly what I've been wanting.  One of them (shown here) has silver studds on the collar, so I feel like I can't wear gold jewelry with it.  The other one (shown here) has elastic around the waist, so it has to be wore with a belt.  Neither are that perfect chambray shirt that I can see so many outfits with.. that's why I caved in and finally bought the perfect one!

Christmas is so soon!  It's exactly 2 weeks away!  So, this week I wanted to show you some holiday party outfits that I put together many from thrift stores, because I think you should SAVE your money on gifts and not worry about spending a fortune to look good for all those family members and friends you haven't seen in a while!

This outfit is SO simple! Just put on your favorite LBD (little black dress), throw on some tights and a cardigan, and belt it! I'm pretty sure everyone has these items in their closet, but if not, just head on over to your local thrift store where I bet you could find em'!
Dress: Plato's Closet $6.99
Cardigan: Goodwill $3.49
Belt: TJ Maxx Clearance $0.70 (yepp, you read that right!)
Tights: Old
Booties: Rack Room Shoes BOGO $35.00

DIY Christmas Banner

I have been loving these cute triangle banners I have been seeing all over Pinterest lately! So, I decided I would make a Christmas one. I love the way it came out, so I will definitely making more for other holidays and possibly for my wedding too!

 Supplies:
You will also need a sharpie, scissors and a hole puncher.

Step 1: Cut your scrapbook paper into triangles.

Step 2: Cut the burlap into triangles also. (FYI burlap is really hard to cut, so I just made it purposely messy)

Step 3: Place the scrapbook paper triangle on top of the burlap triangles and punch holes in the two top corners.

Step 4: Run the juke string through the holes and connect all of your triangles.
Step 5: Cut out small circles that will fit in the triangles.
Step 6: Spell out whatever you like on the circles and tape them on your triangles!

Better late than never, right?

Forever 21 Dress: Garage Sale $1.00
Shirt: Old
Leggings: WH|BM Outlet $10.00
Boot Socks: Payless Shoe Source $4.00
Boots: $40.00
Total Outfit Cost: $55.00

This is what I wore on Thanksgiving... yeah I know that was 3 weeks ago. But hey, I'm finally getting along to posting this outfit!  Last time I wore this dress (here), I kept it simple with just the boots, but it was a little too chilly for all that.  So, I added some layers underneath and brought this dress from fall... to chilly fall? Yeah, it's still just not winter.  I'm not sure I even know what winter actually is here in Louisiana.

A Gloomy Day

Vintage Blouse: Goodwill $3.49
Jeans: TJ Maxx $10.00
Boots: idk $40.00
Total Outfit Cost: $53.49
I wish you could see the cute little scalloped collar on my blouse!

It's finals week, it's raining, and I'm sick. Yepp, just a gloomy day for me.  But on the flip side, Larry took me to IHOP this morning for brunch. Also, I cleaned my room... instead of studying. But it made me feel better! For me, a messy room= a messy mind. Anyone else like that? Well, now it's time for work, where hopefully I will actually get some studying done! My luck, we're going to be busy on a day when I don't want it to be!

Sooo, this may be my new favorite outfit! I've been looking for a leopard cardigan, and my sister found this one at a garage sale.  She actually did not get it for me, but after putting an outfit together with it on, she decided that it wasn't her.  Lucky me cause it is allllll me! :)

Inspiring My Friends

Yesterday I got to hang out with two great friends of mine... somehow we ended up at the Goodwill! Carly has only been to the Goodwill once with me and all she got was a picture frame, so this was really her first time thrifting.  Cody's been to the Goodwill a few times with me, but he usually doesn't have much luck.  Well yesterday, they both found some goodies! Check them out!
Cody found this vintage wool express sweater.  Doesn't he look fabulous in it? And only $3.49 ;)
Carly got a scarf, purse, Gap dress, brand new with tag Forever 21 belt, and another belt! And I think the cashier rang her up wrong(another score haha) because her total was only $13.00!

I loved helping them shop at the Goodwill, and it makes me happy to be inspiring my friends to thrift.  It shocked me to hear that they both read all of my posts.  That's how Cody knew that the sweater was vintage, from this post here.  It warms my heart that the time I put into my blog is actually doing what I intended and inspiring others!

Wear to Work Wednesday: Michael Kors Dress

Michael Kors Dress: Goodwill $4.99
Tights: Old
Shoes: Rack Room Shoes $35.00
Total Outfit Cost: $39.99

I found this Michael Kors dress months ago, and I finally got to wear it! Any other Goodwill would've saw the MK tag and marked the price up, but the one I happened to find it at  (College Drive in Baton Rouge) doesn't mark up clothes even if they are brand new! I wish all Goodwills were like that!

Not So Country

Miley Cyrus Shirt: Walmart $7.00
Skirt: Forever 21 $7.80
Leggings: Walmart $5.00
Boot Socks: Payless Shoe Source $4.00
Scarf: Ross $5.00
Boots: Don't remember the website $40.00
Total Outfit Cost: $68.80

This is what I wore on the day Larry and I got engaged! (minus the scarf) It was way too hot that day to wear the scarf! I think it's hilarious that my outfit totally clashes with the scenery. I may be from south Louisiana and hunt with my man, but I am not at all country, or dress like it!

Our reenactment ;)

I Said YES

November 20, 2012, on our 3 year anniversary, my best friend and the most amazing guy I've ever met asked me to marry him... I SAID YES!  We were in Texas at his family's deer lease for the week, and he took me on a lunch date for our anniversary. We went to this little old town, Fredericksburg, about 30 minutes from the camp.  On the way to the restaurant, we passed this park with a huge Christmas tree.  I told him we should go take a picture there on our way out... little did I know, that was already his plan.  So, we had lunch, did a little shopping, and some wine tasting.  He told me we were shopping because he hadn't gotten me anything for our anniversary. Then we went to the park to take a picture. I took his picture in front of the tree, and then he said, "well mayyyybe I did get you a little something for our anniversary." He got down on his knee and asked me to marry me!! :D His mom, sister, aunt, and granny then came to the park to congratulate us. I'm still in shock, and I'm the happiest girl in the world. And the ring... WOW. He did amazing!

Larry's sister snapped these photos of us at the camp afterward. :)

We haven't set a date yet, but we plan on getting married next summer! I can't wait to show ya'll how I'm planning my wedding on a small budget and all the projects I have in store!

DIY Toilet Paper Roll Art

Hey guys! Today I wanted to show you how you can save some money on wall decor by utilizing something everyone uses... unless you're one of those people on TLC's Extreme Cheapskates that doesn't....

Ok the 1st thing you'll need for this DIY  is something we ALL throw away way too much of...
Toilet paper rolls!
You will also need scissors & hot glue.

Step 1: Smoosh the rolls like so..

Step 2: Cut them into thirds.

Step 3: Create a design & hot glue it
Step 4: Spray paint it! (optional) I did mine gold.

That's it! SO easy & FREE!
And here's the one that my roommate, Adele, made a while back. It's way better than mine! We get compliments on it all the time, and no one can ever tell that it's made from toilet paper rolls!
