february closet additions

So I've decided to start documenting what I spend on clothes each month again. I did this for a few months last year, but stopped quite frankly because I was lazy. Honestly, I was trying to hard to make my collages pretty, so it was too time consuming. This time, if I have time to make a pretty collage, I'll make one, if not, who cares. After all, this is just a blog.

Last month I didn't keep track of what I bought, but I will tell you that I bought it all with Christmas money and/or gift cards... that gives me a big goose egg for Jauary. $0 spent.
(I do remember that I bought this dress in blue, this dress in black & white, and these jeans)

Now for February. This was a weird month for me shopping wise. I actually had no desire for new clothes any time I went anywhere. I usually will walk through the mall, Target, Marshall's, or Ross on my lunch breaks, and if I happen to find anything I'd like (at a good price of course) I'd get it. But it was weird because I'd go and start looking through one rack of clothes and get bored. I swear this has never ever happened to me before. I LOVE shopping. And now all of a sudden I dont? I really don't get it. Now I did force myself to look through the racks at Goodwill (see my dressing room diaries) once because I was out of town and my Goodwill here is terrible. I scored this awesome sweater dress that I want to wear every single day.

January Budget
All things gift carded/Christmas money
Total Spent: $0

February Budget
Merona Sweater dress: Goodwill $4
American Eagle sandals: Marshall's $10 gift carded
Total Spent: $4

***If you read my dressing room diaries post, you know that I did purchase the ugly Christmas sweater vest. Since that isn't something I plan to wear regularly (or y'all would hope not right?) I'm not including it in my budget. I make my own rules haha ;)

trying something new

knotted sweater
striped skirt + sweater
Sweater: Target (clearance) $4
Skirt: Old Navy, gift carded
Tights: Target (clearance) maybe $2 but I don't actually remember
Booties: Plato's Closet $12
Necklace: Ebay $9
Total Outfit Cost: $27

Ok, ok y'all are going to have to excuse the massive roots I have going on in these pictures. This was before my sister cut and highlighted my hair. She was a life saver because y'all... my hair was bad. So bad. She's only been in beauty school since October and is already amazing at it. I'm such a proud big sister!

So I tried something new with this outfit. I've been wanting to try wearing a sweater over my skirt for a while. This sweater is slightly high-low and it was too long to wear just on top of the skirt (it made my proportions look all weird). So, I tried knotting it! I don't think it photoed well, but in person this outfit was really cute! Or at least I thought so haha. The only thing about knotting it is that it came undone a few times at work so I had to keep re-doing it.

sweet & simple

leopard cardigan work outfit
simple work style
Cardigan: Garage Sale $2 [similar]
American Eagle tee: Goodwill $3.50 [similar]
Old Navy Pants: $26
Charlotte Russe Flats: Goodwill $3.50
Necklace: Forver 21 $9 [similar]
Total Outfit Cost: $44

Sometimes I think I try too hard to be creative with my closet and outfits. I'm always trying to put together outfits aren't so expected and things I haven't worn before. This day I went more for the obvious and something simple. I grabbed my leopard cardigan since I hadn't worn it in a while. Then easy choice was to go with a simple v-neck tee and my never failing black ankle pants. Then I added a pop of color with my green pendant necklace from forever xxi! Easy peasy.

dressing room diaries: goodwill x2

I was out of town on Saturday, so I had a chance to stop at a new Goodwill. I was really hoping to find some house stuff, but this one had barely anything in what I call the "junk" section. Luckily their clothes section wasn't lacking, so I tried a lot of stuff on (and kept a whole lot of people waiting for a room since there were only 2... oops).

Gap Sweatshirt: I've been looking for a cute sweatshirt that doesn't look too frumpy like the ones I have now. Sadly this one was too short and kinda small.

Merona Dress: So I already have 3 other gray dresses (see here, here, and here) and I don't really need another but look at this one! I had to have it! Even better, the cashier rang me up for a sweater instead of a dress, so I got it for $4 instead of $6!

Old Navy Dress: I loved the color of this dress. Unfortunately it hit me in a weird place on my hips and was just unflattering (I attempted to hide it in this picture).

Bow back shirt: My sister actually has this shirt in coral, and it's super cute on her. I just wasn't feeling it on me though.

Mossimo (or Merona) Shirt: I thought this blouse was cute and would've been good for work, but I didn't like the way the neckline fell on me. I'm one to always wear a cami, and I feel like the cami would poke out at the top and look silly.

Gray blazer: I knew this would be big, but I tried anyways because it's so perfect! I was right though, too big. :(

Forever 21 Sweater: This was a large, so I knew it would be too big, but I thought it might be good to wear with leggings. I liked it and contemplated it for a minute, but decided to leave it at GW because the material wasn't great.

Gap neon pink tee: I have a thing for thrifting Gap tees I swear! They're just so soft and comfy! I ALMOST got this one, but decided I just need it.

Christmas vest: I know I won't be able to find any gems like this closer to Christmas, so this came home with me! The cashier rang me up for a tank top instead of a sweater, so I got it for only $2!

Forever 21 bow dress: After GW, I stopped at a small local thrift store called Hand Up. I found this adorable little dress that I think would be perfect for Valentine's day, but they didn't have a dressing room!

I was looking through my phone and I found some pictures from Goodwill trip from a month or so ago.

Orangey-red boyfriend cardi: Looking back at this picture, I can't remember why I didn't get this!

Gap cardigan: This was a little big for me, so I brought it home for my sister!

Gap popover: Was too big and looked like a night shirt on me.

Red dress: I liked the style of this dress, but it was a little big. Plus, I didn't care for the material or the color.

Forever 21 sweater: I've been looking for a sweater or cardi this color and I was excited to find this one, but unfortunately it wasn't in great shape. The band at the bottom was slightly stretched out.

Have you thrifted any goodies lately?

black & white

black and white winter outfit
white sweater dress
Dress: H&M (on sale) $12 [similar]
Boots: Just Fab $20
Scarf: Express (clearance) $7
Total Outfit Cost: $39

I'm so sad that all I have to show of this outfit is lame mirror pictures! But unfortunately, it was raining the day I wore this, so there was no going outside for outfit pictures. I used to take my outfit pictures inside my apartment a few years ago, but I just haven't figured out the lighting situation for taking them inside my house. Any tips? Problem is, you need the natural light from a window, but if I'm choosing to take my picture inside, it's likely because there is no light outside because it's late or it's raining. Ohhh blogger probz! Anyways, I don't normally wear all black and white, but I loved this outfit! This sweater dress is super comfy and perfect for cold days in the office.

Also, I'm linking up with the PMT Style Challenge: Try a new hairstyle. These pictures were before I let my sister chop some more off my hair, but I did try something new this day! Nothing fancy, I just went with a deeper part and pinned back one side. I actually really like how it came out, and I'll probably wear it like this more often!
