I said yes to my Chinese dress

Chambray Shirt: Goodwil; $3.49
Sweater: Old Navy $20
Pants: Aeropostale, Gift Carded
Flats: Goodwill $3.49
Necklace: Vintage, given to me
Total Outfit Cost: $26.98

I just wanted to update y'all on my wedding gown... it's beautiful! I said yes... again! I'm so excited that I could save my family $700 on my dress.  We are penny pinching everywhere we can on the wedding, and I know that it is still going to be beautiful and everything that I have ever dreamed of. I'll be showing y'all some random stuff I, my mom, and my stepmom have picked up at different thrift stores pretty soon. :)

Thrifted Wedding Dresses

So, as soon as I got engaged, it was a big joke.. well maybe not really... that I would find my wedding dress at a thrift store or Craig's List.  Well, I didn't.  I actually fell in love with a beautiful designer gown at a boutique, and it was about $1000... which is actually the cheapest dress I even tried on! Wedding gowns are insanely expensive these days!  We didn't buy the dress at the boutique because there was still one more boutique to go to the next weekend. My mom ended up finding my dress online from Deanna Bridals for $312... and we ordered it.  You may think I'm crazy for ordering it from China, but it said the designer name on it so I thought it HAD to be the exact dress.  Well it came  in the mail two nights ago, and I facetimed with my family as they opened up the package for me.  Turns out it isn't the designer dress but a replica. My mom and stepmom are on their way to my apartment for me to try it on. I'm so nervous! I hope I love it as much as the original! Hopin', wishin' and prayin' it works for me because there's no returns, only exchanges!

About the dresses above... aren't they beautiful?? These I found at the Goodwill for $40!! I think they're beautiful, but they just weren't the style I was going for... shabby chic, duh! haha. The bottom one fit me perfect! What do you think of them?

Would you ever order your wedding gown from China or buy it at a thrift store?

ps. sorry this is so lengthy!
pps. please excuse my bra straps

My Neglected Polka Dot Pants

Jean Jacket: Old Navy Gifted
Chambray Shirt: Goodwill $3.49
Pants: TJ Maxx $20.00
Flats: Goodwill $3.49
Total Outfit Cost: $26.98

Somehow my maroon polka dot pants have not made it to my blog yet, and I feel like I have neglected them!   I've had them since October, and have worn them plenty of times but I guess I never got a picture in them.  When I first bought them, I felt like they may have been an impulse buy.  I couldn't figure out what what go with them other than a white shirt, but then I experimented with different things in my closet, and they have become one of my favorite pairs of pants.  Even though I didn't think these pants through when I bought them, they apply to my $20 Rule because I ended up being able to create a lot of outfits with them!

Monday Style

Sweater: Forever 21 $5.00 (Clearance)
Shirt: Charlotte Russe $3.00 (Clearance)
Jeggings: Charlotte Russe Old
Flats: Forever 21 $18.00
Total Outfit Cost: $26.00

I thought this Monday definitely called for my big ugly sweater that I got on clearance at Forever 21 (Original Post).   This sweater is like one of those dogs that you see that are so ugly they're cute. That's the way I feel about this sweater. On top of being "cute" it is perfectly comfy for a day where all I have to do is go to one class and relax the rest of the day.  Today will be the only day I have to relax for a while because along with school, I'll be working a lot this week and especially this weekend.  Since the Superbowl is in New Orleans, we have a crap load (yes that is an actually amount) of planes coming into our airport in Hammond, so we are going to be crazy busy at work. I'm excited for it though, it beats being slow and bored at work!

Happy Monday, y'all!

Sweggings

Ann Taylor Loft Sweater: Goodwill $3.49
Skirt: Forever 21 $7.00
Necklace: eBay $8.99
Flats: Forever 21 $18.00
Sweggings: NotAClue
Total Outfit Cost: $37.48

What is a swegging you may ask... sweggings are sweater leggings. I like to make up my own words. Plus, it's fun to say. Ever heard of a shress? No? It's what I call something that is too short to be a dress, but too long to be a shirt. I know you know what I'm talking about. They're typically found at forever 21.
Hope y'all are having a great Saturday! I'm spending mine at work from 7-7. Boo.

Embrace it

Shirt: Ross $5.00
Shorts: Goodwill $3.49
Tights: Old
Boots: Aldo Outlet $40.00
Necklace: Target Old
Total Outfit Cost: $48.49

So I realize that I dress different than the people at my school. Most show up in sweats and tennis shoes. I couldn't if I tried.  Sometimes I go to school and feel self conscious because my outfit is super cute... You're thinking wait does she have that backwards? Nope. For some reason, I get weird looks because I actually think about what I'm wearing. . And  honestly, I know sweats are super comfy and that's why people wear them, but tell me what's not comfortable about what I'm wearing! My outfit didn't take too much thinking either. I may have taken an extra minute out of my morning to plan this. I'd feel weird if I went to school in sweats. It's just not me. I think I'd just want to fall asleep in my desk if I wore them. Getting dressed and looking great for the day makes me feel ready to work! So what I'm getting at here is that I'm going to start to embrace it and not feel self conscious about looking good just because of what my classmates think!  <

Do you ever feel judged or looked at because of the way you dress?

Pinspired Style//Where to Work Wednesday//Russian

Shirt: Goodwill $3.49
Blazer: Goodwill $3.49
Banana Republic Skirt: Goodwill $3.49
Tights: Old
Booties: Rackroom Shoes $35.00 (BOGO)
Belt: Off a dress
Total Outfit Cost: $45.47

I got my Pinspiration from these 3 outfits below. I gotta say though, not to toot my own horn but I kinda like my version even better. Yepp.. I just said I liked my outfit better than two of the most stylish bloggers out there. Whoops. But what the hey, ya gotta have confidence, right? I admired my own outfit all day at work today, and I think it helped the day go by faster because I felt great.

Funny thing happened today... A pilot asked where I was from. He said he asked because he didn't think I looked American. He's from Russia, and he thought I was Russian! Ha! What's weird is that I've been told that before. I've been told that I don't look American, I've been told I look European and Russian. But I guess if it comes from a Russian himself, then I MUST look Russian! Lolzz.

What do you think? Do I look American to you?

My Last First Day of School!

Coat: St. Vincent de Paul $5.00
Shirt: Forever 21 $20.00
Skirt: Forever 21 $7.80
Leggings: Old
Scarf: Old Navy Gift Carded (but only $5!)
Boots: Random website: $40.00

Today is my last first day of school... ever!  Though I'm not too excited about getting back into the swing of things like studying, homework, and actually going to class, but I am excited to get myself back into a daily routine. Today my routine started with an 8 o'clock class... my first one ever. Booooo.  That's why I decided to go with the bun on top my head today. Buns are always appropriate for early mornings... and late mornings... okay and everyday since I do pretty much wear it everyday....
Hope everyone has a great week! I hope I will be able to keep up with my posts with my busy schedule!

OH! And to clear up my last post, no one actually calls garage sales a "groj sale." Some idiot obviously just cant spell garage!

Jonna from Everything But Ordinary nominated me for the Liebster award!

Ok ok... So I've been nominated for the Liebster Award by a few other lovely blogger ladies in the past few weeks, I've just been too lazy to go through with it. But today I am, here's how it goes...

1. Post 11 random facts about yourself.
2. Answer the 11 questions the nominator asked.
3. You (the nominee) come up with 11 new nominees (no tag backs) and 11 questions for your nominees to answer. Nominees should have less than 200 followers and should link back to you on their Liebster blog post.
4. Lastly, be sure to actually let the nominees know they've been nominated.

Here are 11 random facts about myself:

 1. When someone is trying to figure out who's lying and it's not me, I seriously cant help but smile really big so then they all think it's me!
 2. I worked in Disney World in the fall of 2011.
3. No, I wasn't Cinderella or Rapunzel, but once a week I was told I should be... Take that Disney casting!
4. My natural hair color is dishwater blonde. Ew.
 5. I'm getting married on July 20th of this year (183 days away eek!!)
6. I am currently craving a ginormous Chinese buffet right now due to fasting today.
7. I am addicted to Chapstick.
8. My guilty pleasure tv shows include Here Comes Honey Boo Boo, Toddlers and Tiaras, and of course Dance Moms.
9.  I am the only child within my mom and dad, but I have 3 siblings.
10. I competed in dance from the age of 6 to 17 and I miss it terribly.
11. I'm graduating college in May, and I went through all of college FOR FREE thanks to scholarships and pell grants.

Here are the questions Jonna asked her nominees:

 1. When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I always wanted to be a dance teacher. I'm hoping that will come true when the fiancé and I move to his hometown this summer :)
2. Be Honest.  How many pairs of shoes do you own?
I'm gonna guess around 25... I'm not at my apartment right now
3. Ocean or Mountains?
 Oceans.
4. If you could trade lives with someone for a day, who would it be?
I really just don't know... I'm just happy to be me :)
5.What is your favorite season and why?
Summer! I love the heat!
6.  What habit(s) do you need to stop? Peeling my nails! It looks so gross when showing off my engagement ring when I have short nasty nails :(
7. What is your favorite holiday?
Christmassssss. My family is huge and I love getting to see them all together at the Christmas parties :)
8. What is your favorite zoo animal?
The sea otters, duh
9. Are you a hat person?
I suppose so, I love my fedora but I don't wear it enough. My mom tells me I'm a hat person, does that count?
10. What is your favorite T.V. show?
Pretty Little Liars... Gahh SO addicting. I hope it never ends. I hope we never find out who A is!
11.Roller-coasters. Love or hate?
I haven't rode very many, but I LOVE the Rock-N-Roller Coaster in Disney's Hollywood Studios.

And I'm going to skip rules 3 and 4 because all of the ladies that I would nominate have all either been nominated already or have nominated me... I'm such a rebel breaking half the rules...

Thursday Thrift Tip: Try On EVERYTHING

Today's thrift tip is to try on absolutely everything that you stick in your buggy! This tip kind of goes along with the last one (size doesn't matter) because when thrifting you're not going to worry about the size, so of course you need to try it on to make sure it fits. Here are some pictures of my sister, Alyssa, and I's trip to the Goodwill and some of the things we tried on!
Our buggy was full!
Dresses that we both bought... her's is super cute with her camel colored boots!
This dress was pretty.. just too girly girly for me I think.
She thought this shirt was a little too tight.
Ah! LOVE this little vintage dress! But it was too short :(
Flats that sista got.
Love this Banana Republic pencil skirt that I got, but the pocket on the pink tee was just in an awkward spot!
Blurry and ugly picture, but this is our sad faces because these clothes were too small for us.
This is also a good example of today's tip because this fitted tee I have on is a J. Crew size small and was too tight on the boob area, but I have a J. Crew tank that's an extra small that I got at the Goodwill a while back, and it's too big!
This shress (too long to be a shirt, too short to be a dress=shress) was cute on her, but she didn't get it.
This skirt was soooo cute, but it did this whole weird bubble thing as you can see. Sista ended up getting the Lauren Conrad sweater thing I have on here though.

So I hope that you make it to a thrift store soon and try on a buggy full of clothes like we did! Even if you only end up with a few items, it's a ton of fun, I promise!
What are some of your favorite finds of ours?

Thursday Thrift Tip: Size Doesn't Matter

Shirt: Old
Sweater: Goodwill $3.49
Limited Jeans: Goodwill $4.99
Charlotte Russe Flats: Goodwill $3.49
Belt: Came on a dress
Total Outfit Cost: $11.97

So, since I get a lot of, "teach me your ways!" and "share your tricks!" I have decided it is time I share all my secrets with you!

Thrift Tip #1:
Size Doesn't Matter
Whether you're searching through the endless racks of clothing at the Goodwill or shopping the clearance rack at TJ Maxx, don't worry about looking at the size on the tag! Since the items are so cheap, it's okay if they don't fit exactly right. And sometimes some items are at thrift stores because of the size. For example, the sweater I have on above is an XL... I am a small/medium. My guess is that the person who originally purchased it dried it in the dryer and it obviously shrunk! And since it is just a tad too big, I added a belt, and voila! This XL sweater is now a small!

I hope my thrift tip helps... now get yourself to a thrift store and try it out! :)

Winter Spring

Sweater: Goodwill $3.49
American Eagle Tee: Goodwill $3.49
Scarf: Goodwill $1.99
Charlotte Russe Jeans: Gifted
Booties: JustFab $19.95
Chain Bracelet: Thrift Store $1.50
Other Bracelets: Jewelry Show $3.50
Total Outfit Cost: $33.92

So, I'm wearing spring colors in the winter. Yepp. I hate how everyone thinks that since it's cold that you need to wear dark colors! Brighten up your day with some brighter colors! This outfit is from a couple of weeks ago, but I've been so crazy busy since before and after I got back from Disney World. I've actually been back since last Tuesday.  It was amazing by the way. Larry and I had an absolute blast on NYE in Hollywood Studios. The band, Mulch, Sweat, and Shears... ahhh love them. Can we have them at our wedding? HA. That would cost a fortune!

Ps. I promise my roots don't look this bad anymore. ew.
