Please Excuse the random pot here. My mom brought it to my house and put it there, and while I don't think it's a bad spot for the pot, it just looks super awkward in these pictures since it's empty.

I've never owned a pair of combat boots and never really have I wanted a pair, but I stopped in Target the other day, and something about these intrigued me to try them on. When I went to grab them, I noticed they were on sale for $25, which made me like them even more! I tried them on and knew that I had to have them. These pictures of them don't do them justice, and neither do the pictures on the Target site. They're actually lighter than they appear and they have a cool texture in the brown.

I've always been that person that wouldn't wear black and brown together, and I taught my husband not too either (not that he always listens). Lately though, I think you can make black and brown work! I think that my brown boots work with my black pants since my top is a shade of brown. What do you think about wearing black and brown together?

  1. The texture on the boots really makes it work with the black. The neutrals are awesome together though. What a steal on the boots too!

  2. I think black and brown can work together. Especially when the brown is more of a tan/neutral. I like the way you added the necklace to bring in some color too. I like the black/brown color combo. http://www.pinterest.com/pin/395472411003142355/

  3. I was the same way, never wearing black and brown. But I've been trying it more now too, especially with lighter shades of brown I think it looks great.

  4. I think that the pot actually works there! Even empty. It's almost like you are Katniss or something in those boots .. haha :) Cute outfit! I love that color of brown with black! XO-Alexandra

  6. Two years ago, I bought some combat boots but I just couldn't make them work. I think they work best on long lean legs and with the kind of women can pull off leggings. And you definitely rock them. Now I want to see how you're going to style them next!!

  8. Ah! I love this so much! I have a similar pair of combat boots from Target that I looove. I typically wear them with black ponte pants or leggings and a tunic, like you've done here as well. I love that top, by the way - the color is so rich and perfect for the fall! And I used to be so anti-black+brown, but I have really come to like how they look together! Now that my wardrobe is primarily neutrals, I'm mixing and matching browns and black alllll the time :)

  9. I'm just like you, I was adamantly opposed to wearing black & brown, but you're totally right, you just have to make sure the shades aren't too close. This combo is great, the colors totally work! I've been wearing my brown Frye boots with black dresses, and honestly, it's kinda a relief. My motto these days is- there's no such thing as color rules anymore! Anything goes!
