My sister was in town this weekend, and I have to say, we had some awesome (much needed) sister time. We started our weekend off Friday night with some chickfila, watching my husband box at the gym, then falling asleep on the couch watching a lifetime movie on Netflix (the pregnancy project). What party animals, I know!

Saturday morning we cooked breakfast together- omelets and toast with muscadine jelly (so yum). And coffee of course. Can't forget the coffee.  After that we took over 2 hours to get ready. No lie. I let her do my makeup and she took for.ev.er. Plus, I'm just impatient. Then we went to Old Navy. We both bought this dress for only $12 (I got indigo, she got black)! I also got a blouse that was on clearance for $2.97 (yepp cheaper than Goodwill). We went to the movies to see Boy Next Door (good movie, but crazy ending). We went to Plato's Closet. Sista always finds good stuff there! I tried on this adorable leather dress, but for 1. where would I wear a leather dress? and 2. it was an ugly green color. I did end up leaving with some adorable teal pumps though! Sunday we went to church and brunch with Larry and his granny, then we just hung out for the rest of the day and watched Gone Girl.

I'm so glad I finally got to spend the weekend with my sister. She really is my best friend and it stinks that we don't get to spend more time together since we live 2 hours apart.

Wednesday before last, I told y'all how I had been in a funk lately.  I let a weeks worth of bad sleep and some medicine affect my mood and ultimately my days.  Well Wednesday night, I went to bed early, and I told myself I wasn't going to let myself be affected like that.  I needed to have control over my mood, nothing else.

In the last year, I must have forgotten that I'm a morning person.  I always have been, and apparently that has yet to change.  I know, I'm rare haha.  For the month of December I'm on the dredded Tuesday-Saturday 9-6 shift that no one in the office likes.  Even though I was getting up an hour later for work, I was still tired around the same time every night.  Thursday morning I decided to wake up 45 minutes early.  I took a long bath and listened to worship music (Kari Jobe station on Pandora), I washed and blow dried my hair, look a little extra time on my makeup, and overall, just got ready slowly and peacefully.  Then I ate my breakfast and read God's word.  It was just what I needed.  I felt so refreshed to start my day.

I want to be able to start all my days like that.  It may not be for everyone to wake up early, but for me, it obviously works!  Sure, I may have to fight myself to get out of bed early in the morning, but if it's going to make me in a better mood in the long run, I'm all for it.  This will also help me with being more intentional in seeking God.  I will admit, I don't read the bible like I should.  I'm going to make it a priority to wake up early to spend time for myself and for my God.

What do you do for yourself when you're feeling in a funk? Do you take time for some self care?

Yes, I know I totally look like a basic white girl with my Starbucks in hand, BUT that is not a pumpkin spice latte.  Call me crazy but I don't even like their PSLs! I think their bitter and gross. (I do love everything pumpkin though. I made these pumpkin spice cupcakes last week. They are SO easy to make and not to mention delish!) My Starbucks drink of choice is a white chocolate mocha... yummmm.

This is what I wore Friday to go trick or treating. We went with Larry's 2 year old Godchild and our 3 month old baby nephew. Let me tell you about my husband... he's funny. His sister was carrying the baby and Larry would walk up to the house with the baby's candy bucket with her to get candy for himself! I swear he's a mess. Our poor future children.. their daddy will most definitely be stealing all of their candy!

I'm not exactly sure why, but this is probably one of my favorite outfits ever. Maybe it's because  I've got on my new favorite boots, my favorite color combo- mustard and navy, and one of my best goodwill finds- this AE tee!

Larry as a jester (he had a scary mask but couldn't wear it in front of the kids) and Charlie poo as a ballerina :)

high school colors

Scarf: Ebay $4
LC Jeans: Kohls gift carded
Booties: Plato's Closet $12
Total Outfit Cost: $16

My high school colors were black and gold.. but the gold was always more like a mustard yellow or bumble bee yellow. So as soon as I put on this outfit I felt like I was sporting my school colors! Our high school rival's colors were royal blue and gold (the same gold as us lol), and I still can't seem to wear those colors together! My little brother is now going to said rival school, and if he makes the baseball team, it's going to be hard enough to sit on their side of the stands much less wear their colors! How will I ever!
