all thrifted

purple skirt + chambray
chambray and purple skirt
Old Navy Shirt: Garage Sale $1
Banana Republic Skirt: Goodwill $3.50
Booties: Plato's Closet $12
Necklace (that you can't really see): Groopdealz $9
Total Outfit Cost: $25.50

This outfit is comprised of pieces thrifted from my 3 favorite places to thrift shop! 1st- garage sales. I cannot wait for it to be warm outside so people start having lots of garage sales. For me, garage sales are where you really find the real deals. Instead of shirts starting at $3, they start at 25 cents usually! 2nd- Goodwill. I honestly have a love/hate relationship with Goodwill lately. I used to find such great things at the one where I went to college. But now the one where I live sucks! I rarely find things lately. Which is why you've been seeing less thrifted pieces in my outfits for the past year and a half. This skirt was found at a Goodwill in Baton Rouge almost 3 years ago and I'm always hoping to find another like it because I love the way it fits. Lastly, Plato's Closet. At Plato's you may have to sort through all the teeney bopper clothes, but there are totally some diamonds in the rough to find at Plato's! We're actually getting a Style Encore soon which I'm suuuuper excited about. Style Encore is a sister store to Plato's that sells women's brand instead of juniors brands.

Tomorrow I've teamed up with some other bloggers to share our best thrifting tips, so be sure to stop back on by! We'll also be having a thrifted outfits linkup next Thursday March 26th!

American Eagle tee: Goodwill $3.50 [similar]
Old Navy Pants: $26
Charlotte Russe Flats: Goodwill $3.50
Necklace: Forver 21 $9 [similar]
Total Outfit Cost: $44

Sometimes I think I try too hard to be creative with my closet and outfits. I'm always trying to put together outfits aren't so expected and things I haven't worn before. This day I went more for the obvious and something simple. I grabbed my leopard cardigan since I hadn't worn it in a while. Then easy choice was to go with a simple v-neck tee and my never failing black ankle pants. Then I added a pop of color with my green pendant necklace from forever xxi! Easy peasy.

I have to thank Inge for the recommendation on these pants! A couple months ago (or weeks, I don't remember) I asked for y'alls recommendation on some black skinny pants for work. Many of you recommended the exact stretch pants from The Limited. They were buy 1 get 1 free one day, so I ordered the Exact Stretch Zip Pocket Ankle Pants and the Exact Stretch Skinny Pants. When they came in, I was very impressed with the structure and material of the pants, but when I put them on, they just didn't fit exactly right and they weren't exactly what I was looking for. I like my pants to have more stretch to them, and these (although they are called exact stretch) had no stretch to them and they weren't very comfortable. This pair was too long and very baggy in the ankles, and then these were too wide at the ankle. I was wanting something a little skinnier. I think pants that are skinnier at the bottom look better with flats. If they're too wide, I feel like it can make you look super stumpy and short. I ended up sending both pairs back.

Luckily, Inge posted about replacing her black ankle pants and the Target ones she bought looked exactly like what I was looking for, plus the price was right! I ordered them and I'm so happy with my purchase! These pants are so perfect, and I'm hoping to eventually get a few other colors in them!

Monday came here way too quick, dontcha think? When will we all turn to 3 days weekends? Speaking of 3 day weekends, I totally thought I'd be getting one next weekend because I go from working Mon-Fri to Tues-Sat for September. So I would be off Saturday to Monday right? Well nope! I completely forgot that I'm working Labor day! Booooo. Oh well, still only a 3 day week for me though, because we're going to Disney World that week!
I spent Saturday with my best friend, and we got all our Disney reservations, fast passes, and outfits all in order for our trip! We were so productive! We even finished the day watching Frozen. We are definitely big kids at heat forever. I can't wait to show ya'll our Disney Bound outfits we have planned for the trip. :)

All my life I have HATED the color orange! I honestly don't think I've owned anything orange until this dress. Actually, I lie. There was this one time in 4th grade when the cool kids wore orange, so I had my mom get me a fleece orange pull over sweatshirt. #foreveradork. Lately, I am loving the color orange though! I got another orange dress at the Goodwill about a month or so ago (which I gotta get an outfit photo of soon). I even bought Larry an orange shirt the other day! So now that I have this new found love for orange, help me out... what colors go with orange other than turquoise?

When I went to wear this dress to work the other day it hit me that I had seen someone style this dress before. It didn't take me long to remember it was Jessica from Here & Now! I totally went back to her blog and stalked it until I found this outfit. I loved that she toned down the neon-ness of this dress with neutrals, so I decided just to go ahead and copy the whole outfit!

So I took a couple months away from blogging, and most bloggers will come back and announce.. surprise! they're pregnant. As much as I'd like for that to be my reason, it's not. But while away from blogging I've been.... falling asleep early... re-wearing outfits that I loved... wearing "un-blogworthy" outfits.... getting into my pjs the second I get home... not worrying about taking blog pictures... not opening my lap top... taking #ootd selfies on instagram... watching too much tv (including all of season 2 of Orange is the New Black)... being lazy... aaaand I started a new blog (here). What have you been up to lately?

As women, aren't we all ALWAYS in search for the perfect little black dress? Well ladies, look no more, I have found it for you! Before I begin to explain to you my mad love for this dress, I promise this post is indeed not sponsored by Old Navy (but c'mon, I totally wish it was)!  This dress is perfect because it can be worn both for work or for a casual weekend look. This dress is perfect because the material is thick, but not too thick to make you hot in the summer. This dress is perfect because it's sexy yet modest. This dress is perfect because it's super duper comfy. This dress is perfect because it's stretchy yet very forgiving. I could seriously go on and on! So, if you're convinced that you need this dress like I hope you are, before you buy it head on over to  http://www.coohpons.com/ and grab you a coohpon code (there's one for 20% off today!) like I did! There's almost always a discount code for Old Navy, so I don't believe in paying full price there. ;)

disco pants

IMG_9407
LC Blouse: Kohl's (clearance & coupon) $8
Gap Pants: Plato's Closet $12 (similar)
Belt: Forever 21 $5
Vintage Necklace: Garage Sale $1
Total Outfit Cost: $26

A couple weeks ago I told y'all how my husband thought that I looked like a diva in an outfit I wore to work. This time, I walk over to his work to have lunch with him, and he says, "nice disco pants!" ....Sarcastically. Let's just say that he is not a fan of my wide leg pants. He couldn't stop laughing! And no, it doesn't bother me whatsoever! My husband has zero sense of fashion. If he's wearing something nice, I dressed him, and I bought it. Anyone else dress their husband? He'd dress even better if he let me dress him the way I really want to dress him. Unfortunately, he's plain Jane Jack. He only really likes to wear the colors black, red, white, and gray. One time I bought him this pretty blue Express short sleeve button up from the Goodwill (yes, I buy thrifted clothes for him too!), and he puts it on and is all like, "....well, the color is too much.." OHHH OK. Crazy husband. He never did wear that shirt, and it still hangs in our closet as I continue to hope he'll wear it one day.

mirror mirror on the wall...

IMG_0212, thrifted sweater, garage sale sweater, thrifted
Sweater: Garage Sale FIFTY FRIGGIN' CENTS, Y'ALL
Shirt: Old Navy (clearance) $8
Jeans: Old Navy (sale + super cash) $11.25
Belt: Goodwill $1
Boots: $40
Total Outfit Cost: $60.75

Who's the thriftiest of them all? ...YOU AREEE.
This sweater is definitely one of my most favorite garage sale finds ever. I remember seeing it, there it was, lying on a blanket on the ground in a small pile of clothes. It's coziness intrigued me, so I picked up. No price tag (which drives me nuts by the way- no one wants to go to your garage sale and keep asking you how much evertyhing is!). I looked at it and was excited to see that it was the slouchy style cardigan that I had been searching for, but I wasn't so sure about the color/pattern at first. (Why? I have no clue, because now I'm in love with it!) I asked the lady how much. She said 50 cents. I accepted. And that is the story of how this beauty came home with me.

If you're wondering why I am posting a craptastic mirror picture it's because somehow this outfit has been worn THREE times, and I haven't gotten a picture of it. This mirror picture was actually the second time I wore the outfit. How is it that some of my favorite closet items and outfits take the longest to make it to the blog? No idea.

cheetahlicious

IMG_8732 >
Sweater: Goodwill $3.99
Pants: Old Navy $26
Boots: $40
Necklace: Garage Sale $1
Total Outfit Cost: $70.99

In all actuality, I have no idea if this sweater is actually leopard or cheetah print. I couldn't tell you the difference between the two if I tried, but hey the title was cute! By the way, anyone remember the Cheetah Girls? I mean how could you not. I was probably a little old to love them at the time, but I'm forever a Disney nerd! I actually usued to live with my very own cheetah girl. My roomie when I worked in Disney World was is in love with anything cheetah. One time I took a picture of her with her fully covered in her cheetah apparel (as a joke of course) from her beanie on her head to her slippers! I think she would be proud of this sweater. Hey Maris, if you're reading this, I miss youuuuu!

making our house a home | thrifty home decor

I'm always showing off all of my thrifted clothes, but I don't only dress myself with thrifted items, a lot of my home is dressed in thrifted decor!  Here are some of the goodies I've found since we've moved into our house:

IMG_8007
My parent's found these bar-stools for us brand new at an auction & scored all 3 for only $80! My mom said they retail for about $150 each
IMG_8008
Canvas Picture: Goodwill $3.99
I plan on putting it in our guest bathroom once I find a shower curtain & rug to match
IMG_8006
Kirkland's brand new with tags picture in frame: Goodwill $12.00
This picture still had the Kirkland's tag on it that said $59.99!  Then the Goodwill had it marked for $24, but everything in the Goodwill was 50% the day I went in because they were having a moving sale... so it's like I got it for a total of 20% of the original price wow!
IMG_8003
Wine Rack: Goodwill $3.99
IMG_8002
Vintage Tin: Garage Sale $1
IMG_7998
Pitcher: Bargain World Thrift Store $3 | Other Decoration: $5.99 (not sure what you call this but I absolutely love it and I based my colors in my kitchen and dining room off of this!)
IMG_7995
Mail Holder: Goodwill $4.99
IMG_7993
Brand new with tags ($20): Goodwill $5.99
IMG_7989
Candle holders: St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store $1.75 each | Candles: Goodwill $1 each

Cynthia Rowley Blouse: TJ Maxx (clearance) $12 | Pants: Goodwill $3.49 | Pearls: Garage Sale $1 | BCBG Flats: Marshall's (clearance) $25
Total Outfit Cost: $41.49

Today was my first day at my new big girl job. Though I am still refusing to believe that I'll ever actually grow up. I really enjoyed my new coworkers. It's really a family oriented environment, which I'm really excited for. My boss even took me to lunch today to get to know me. I'll pretty much be staring at a computer screen reading for two weeks for training. Then I get to go to Cleveland for 2 whole weeks for training! Eeeeek. I'm nervous.

How about these flats? Aren't they the CUTEST. I went into the Jcrew factory store a couple months ago and fell in love with some really similar nude bow flats, but for that price tag.. no way, jose. This girl is cheap.  So when I went into Marshall's the other day and saw these, I snatched em' up quick as I could!

I wore this the other day, and while at Subway the worker told me she liked my swag! Haha! I'm not quite sure what it means, but I'll take it as a compliment! I wore an outfit similar to this one a couple weeks ago and I got a compliment on my swag then too! I guess I just got swag...? ;)

So y'all, I took my bridal portraits Tuesday, and man was it an adventure!! I'll save that story for another day.. Maybe even tomorrow? But if you follow along already, you all know what tomorrow means to me... A week later haha!

Ps: Blogger question!! If I schedule a post to post later, do I need to click publish?

trusty fedora

Fedora: Charming Charlie, Gift Carded
Denim Jacket: Old Navy, Gifted
Tank: Charlotte Russ $3.99
Skirt: TJ Maxx $10
Necklace: Garage Sale $2
Total Outfit Cost: $15.99

I am pretty much obsessed with my fedora (my jean jacket also, but you already knew that).  My fedora makes any bad hair day good and also covers up my unwashed hair. Running late? No need to even brush your hair, just throw on that fedora and go. Trust me, you all need a fedora!

And what do yall think of this necklace? I kinda love it! I picked it up a couple weeks ago at a garage sale. Actually the lady that had the garage sale buys storage units, so she's always selling all kinds of things. I'm hoping to find some more fun stuff from her! My mom got an unopened box of polo cologne for only $25 from her today, and I got my little bro Usher cologne for $10.. birthday present done!

Earlier this week, Kristina tagged me in some vlog questionaire stuffes. She made her very first vlog, and so did Jenna. Well well well... I am not going to answer the questions and make my first vlog because um well.. I've already made a vlog before. You see, when my friend Cody (I call him Codison, long story) and I got accepted into the Disney College Program, we started a vlog. It's what all the cool kids did, so we wanted to join in all the fun! We only made 5 episodes before we actually started working at Disney because once we got there, there was just no time for vlog non-sense.
We're mainly just really silly in them, so here is the first one for your viewing pleasure!

Episode 3 is my absolute favorite though, if you watch anything, make sure you watch the last minute and a half of it. I cry laughing every time :P

OH! I. am. SO. sorry.  I just realized that all this time I had horrific comment word verification on! Thank you all for bearing with me all this time and still leaving all of your sweet words!

Wear to Work Wednesday: Michael Kors dress

(see here the last time I wore this dress)

Michael Kors Dress: Goodwill $4.99
Belt: Garage Sale $1
Booties: Shoe Station (clearance) $15
Total Outfit Cost: $20.99

Soooo guess what Larry and I are doing Saturday... house hunting!!  We found a few in our price range and in the area we are looking for, so we are going tour those houses with a real estate agent. None of the houses seem like the perfect house by looking at the pictures online, but ya never know! And this is just the start! I'm hoping we drive around and find a few more to check out that weren't online.
Any tips for finding the perfect home for us?

Pinspired Style: Katy Perry

Cardigan: Garage Sale $1
Skirt: Goodwill $3.49
Tights: Old
Belt: Came on a shirt
Heels: Handmedown
Total Outfit Cost: $4.49

My Pinspiration:
Isn't Katy Perry just flawless? I just love her. I love her vintage, and always very feminine style. I totally wish I could pull off some of the stuff she's worn, but this simple skirt and cardigan look will have to do.

So, I took count of how many times my professor said essentially and in terms of today...
In terms of: 5
Essentially: 17!!!
Yall... that is TOO much.

Isn't my sister just adorable in this blue dress? Believe it or not, she used to not like to dress up at all or ever.  Now, she's buying dresses and heels, and I have to say that I am one proud sister! I love that she's becoming more girly like me! Two years ago, I would have never thought I'd ever see her in a dress, wedges, and a bun on top her head! I love it. What do yall think of her outfit?

This is what I wore on Thanksgiving... yeah I know that was 3 weeks ago. But hey, I'm finally getting along to posting this outfit!  Last time I wore this dress (here), I kept it simple with just the boots, but it was a little too chilly for all that.  So, I added some layers underneath and brought this dress from fall... to chilly fall? Yeah, it's still just not winter.  I'm not sure I even know what winter actually is here in Louisiana.
