Wednesday before last, I told y'all how I had been in a funk lately.  I let a weeks worth of bad sleep and some medicine affect my mood and ultimately my days.  Well Wednesday night, I went to bed early, and I told myself I wasn't going to let myself be affected like that.  I needed to have control over my mood, nothing else.

In the last year, I must have forgotten that I'm a morning person.  I always have been, and apparently that has yet to change.  I know, I'm rare haha.  For the month of December I'm on the dredded Tuesday-Saturday 9-6 shift that no one in the office likes.  Even though I was getting up an hour later for work, I was still tired around the same time every night.  Thursday morning I decided to wake up 45 minutes early.  I took a long bath and listened to worship music (Kari Jobe station on Pandora), I washed and blow dried my hair, look a little extra time on my makeup, and overall, just got ready slowly and peacefully.  Then I ate my breakfast and read God's word.  It was just what I needed.  I felt so refreshed to start my day.

I want to be able to start all my days like that.  It may not be for everyone to wake up early, but for me, it obviously works!  Sure, I may have to fight myself to get out of bed early in the morning, but if it's going to make me in a better mood in the long run, I'm all for it.  This will also help me with being more intentional in seeking God.  I will admit, I don't read the bible like I should.  I'm going to make it a priority to wake up early to spend time for myself and for my God.

What do you do for yourself when you're feeling in a funk? Do you take time for some self care?

  3. That sounds like an amazing morning routine. I am the furthest thing from a morning person, so I'm not sure I could ever get myself to do that, but it sounds SO nice to not be rushed and running out the door in the morning. I like what you said about being in control of your attitude- it sounds so simple, but it's something I'm constantly working on. Hope you are back to feeling 100%!

    ♥ perfectly Priya

  4. I love the colors in that outfit you're wearing, the yellow scarf really makes it pop. I'm an early morning person too, because I'm a writer and since it's quiet in the morning I can work. My ritual usually includes reading the bible every morning, exercising, and either reading from a current book I'm reading or working on one of my writing projects. When I feel down I usually dance, take pictures with my digital camera, go shopping at a thrift store or Ross, go to the library or go to Mitsuwa Marketplace to buy some Japanese fashion magazines, a Hello Kitty collectible and have a bowl of salt ramen soup at Santouka.Take care of yourself and take it easy until you get back to normal. There's no rush because your health is your most important priority, so you take care of you.

  5. Oh man, slow mornings like this are the BEST! I'm lucky and don't have to go into work but I'm in the bad habit of waking up late and I miss out on those me-times. I never thought to start off the day with a relaxing bath. That sounds amazing!

Have you been able to have more mornings like that since this post went live?
